Millia is the best employee that arrived with the GG collab and for a long time was considered beyond overpowered in PVP. Her damage was so high, she could melt Awakened Na Yubin in a couple of seconds.

Recently she received a pretty big nerf to her special that slashed its damage in half in the Gauntlet which proved to be enough for her to lose the beyond broken status. Now she's merely another great employee that shines when she isn't banned, but there are better alternatives otherwise.

Pros

- damage, tons of damage,

- really hard to kill - when she's in danger, she just jumps back and becomes damage immune,

- gets tons of free Skill Haste from her passive,

- easy to gear because she's a soldier, so you can give her all the useless maze pieces you obtained.

Cons

- none, she's that broken.

May is a frontline supporter with a unique anti-hitstun mechanic that allows her to buff herself and her allies. At first, she looked underwhelming, but KR players already found uses for her both in PVP and PVE but keep in mind she's not a plug-and-play character.

Pros

- Totsugeki!

- makes her allies tanky,

- counters hit-stun employees,

- low cost for what she brings to the battle.

Cons

- she's hard to use well.

Sol is a defender whose kit is focused on debuffing enemies and healing himself, but his stats make him a bruiser rather than a tank. Because of that, he is quite squishy compared to Serapel and Lee Yumi.

He is both below average in PVP and PVE, which is quite worrisome considering that he was a paid battle pass employee during the GG collab.

Pros

- nothing really.

Cons

- high cost,

- confusing movie cancel mechanic that does nothing,

- more of a bruiser than a defender.

I-NO is the first hybrid employee who is both a Mech and Counter which means she gets the benefits of both Mech and Counter-only supports. Both her damage and survivability are quite good and compared to other snipers she's not that easy to kill.

Still, her high cost and the problem with how to use her makes her not that popular choice either in PVE or PVP.

Be aware that while she is a hybrid employee, she can only wear Mech gear.

Pros

- good damage/survivability combination.

Cons

- hard to find a good place for her.

Ram is a striker that focuses on doing damage and nothing else. While this makes her good in PVE where you need to beat the timer, she's too squishy and her range is too low for her to work in PVP.

Her biggest issue is the lack of anything to help the team. Even if her damage is pretty good, you can easily find other strikers that do comparable damage but also bring debuffs/buffs/cc.

Pros

- nice art which makes her a good lobby unit,

- good damage.

Cons

- 0 utility,

- dies easily.

Review

Finally, after nearly two years, another pure healer was released and she's great! Comparing pure healing numbers, Carmen is only inferior to Evelyn, but she trades it for way more utility with the debuff removal and prevention on her special. She's also more of a frontline/tank healer than a team healer because her special skill heals has a small range and it's fired on the closest enemy.

In PVP, this makes her borderline overpowered and there she's competing with Evelyn for the best healer spot. Still, she's super slow and if you deploy her too far from the team, she won't reach them in time. Also, Evelyn is an Air unit, so she's safer in the sky.

Also worth noting that when Carmen is combined with Maestro Nequitia, her special skill shoots two musical notes, instead of one, and the amount of burst healing that comes from it might be nerfed because she can keep the frontline alive by herself.

Pros

- great healing numbers,

- nice synergy with other C.O. and Maestro,

- debuff removal and immunity on special can be clutch.

Cons

- moves super slowly,

- her special heals targets near the explosion, so only the frontline will be healed.

Clareth is a Striker that has great base stats that allow him to become one of the highest damage dealing 4-cost Strikers, but sadly he is selfish and doesn't help the team in any way. On top of that despite his high defensive stats, he dies pretty easily because he has no defensive mechanism in his kit. Sadly, other 4-cost Strikers - like Rearm Esterosa and Orca - outclass him by miles.

Pros

- great damage,

- DEF Penetration is useful against high-def enemies so most Bosses.

Cons

- lacks survivability,

- outclassed by other 4-cost Strikers.

Something happened with the Sylvia we've all known and loved. Something bad. She became a freelance hacker. And sadly, somewhere along the way, she lost herself. Lost her identity.

While her base version is one of the most unique Snipers in the game that has a great CC ability and also acts as a supporter to Mechs, her rearm exchanged all of that for the ability to kill enemy Towers. Still, while on paper she looks like she could counter the strongest Tower in the game right now, Nestkeeper Xiao, in reality, she dies to her before doing anything. On top of that, her cost was increased and it's really hard to justify using her in the current state.

She still needs to be tested, maybe there's something we're missing that will allow her to counter Xiao, but till we do, she's useless and it's better to keep her base version instead.

Pros

- can massively reduce the enemy's ATK,

- her special has one of the largest ranges in the game.

Cons

- but it barely deals any damage,

- still squishy, despite the increased cost.

Review

Awakened Maria is the first awakened Ranger that was added after quite some time - recently Strikers dominated the class for new awakened employees. She's also very similar to Ministra in that regard that she exchanges pure damage for more utility. While her base stats are pretty high and her crit is nearly capped, her skill's coefficient is pretty average which results in, you guessed it, average damage, unless you allow her passive CRIT DMG she gains when allies use her portals to stack, but that's really hard to do in PVP.

Let's talk about her utility now and she can do things that no other employee released till now can. After she's spawned, she creates a portal that teleports allies nearly half (or more than half in the Gauntlet) battlefield forward, allowing them to directly rush the ship by skipping the frontline. Her Special skill is also pretty strong as it not only stuns Strikers and Defenders but also in the Gauntlet it teleports one of the targets that was stunned back to its ship. As for her Ultimate, while it looks great, the damage just isn't there.

Still, the portals have quite a few flaws. First of all, other Awakened employees and Towers can't use it. Furthermore, in PVE where most of the players use Auto-Battle, your squishy backliners will suddenly get teleported to the enemy frontline where they will be slaughtered. Sure, you can play her on manual, but this will get annoying really fast.

As for PVP, Awakened Maria created a new type of rush team that bypasses the enemy frontline and goes straight for the ship, but this team, while being pretty strong, is countered by some other meta teams.

Pros

- can teleport allies forward,

- her stun is really annoying.

Cons

- low damage for her cost,

- can't really be played on auto.

We had to wait for a long time for another Sniper Mech to be added to the game and oh boy, all that waiting was worth it. Compared to Estaque, who even after the buff takes ages to deploy and actually do something, Grendel swaps between walking and fighting modes nearly instantly.

When comparing Grendel to other Snipers, her DPS is a bit worse than base Xiao Lin, but this still puts her close to the top. Still, Grendel provides way more utility than base Xiao. She's the second employee in the game that can Reflux Barriers (which means that she not only removes them from enemies but also deals additional damage based on the value of the barrier), which means that in PVP she can counter some of the current meta employees like Rearmed Esterosa and Awakened Jake that rely on barriers to survive.

She also has permanent Hitstun Immunity allowing her to constantly damage her enemies, but she's pretty squishy herself and this combined with 0 Evasion makes her an easy target for roadrager Kang and Elizabeth.

Pros

- great DPS,

- Barrier Reflux makes her a great counter to the current meta,

- hitstun immunity.

Cons

- squishy.

Review

Nightmare Lulu is the first 2-cost employee that can apply one of the strongest debuffs in PVP (if used right) - Sleep. This sadly makes her pretty bad for PVE as Sleep requires good timing to make use of the duration it lasts.

In PVP, you can now form a team that focuses on abusing Sleep - with Lulu providing battlefield-wide Sleep, Lily targeting the backline, and Gremory being a grenade-in-a-bottle you can throw wherever you want. Still, Sleep alone isn't enough to win you the match, so you need to supplement it with employees that can actually kill someone.

Compared to our two other Sleepers, Lily and Gremory, Lulu's sleep is tied to her ultimate, so you need to keep her alive long enough to actually make use of it. Still, if you're able to do that her Sleep can temporarily disable the current meta employees that hide behind others: Nestkeeper Xiao, Replacer Queen, and Replacer King, buying you a few seconds that hopefully will help you in dealing with them.

Also, Sleep has a pretty hefty downside too.

First of all, it doesn't work on Mechs. So Awakened Horizon teams laugh when they see Lulu being deployed as they can simply ignore her. Also, Mika Star exists and she can remove Sleep from her allies and destroy your plans. Low-cost agro teams that use Soldiers also don't care about Sleep as they can quickly be redeployed.

Be aware that your team also will be put to sleep, as Lulu doesn't care about sides and wants to reap the nightmares from foes and allies alike.

Pros

- battlefield-wide Sleep debuff,

- her kit is really good for her 2-cost.

Cons

- Sleep is useless in PVE,

- Sleep doesn't work on Mechs,

- Lulu is pretty squishy and can easily be killed.

Review

Rearm Han Sorim takes what the base version is good at and makes it even stronger. Sadly, base Han Sorim is a pretty average employee and while the rearm is an upgrade, it isn't enough to make her meta.

Her biggest issue is that while she's supposed to be a Defender killer, she needs to actually survive long enough to use her Ultimate skill to kill something. Yes, Ultimate. Despite being a Soldier she has an Ultimate skill now (her passives have been merged into one with slight adjustments). And it's a pretty unique one - she starts firing an LMG that has a huge range (up to 1200, which is nearly half of the battlefield), allowing her to even reach the backline and murder them. Her Leader skill also increases her CC abilities as the smoke grenade explodes twice, blinding both the frontline and backline. Still, it's up to you if you want to set her as Leader, as that position is usually better used on Awakened employees or other, stronger rearms - like Esterosa.

In PVP while initially she was used for fun, players soon realized that she's easy to fit in a lot of teams due to her low cost and good damage/utility combination.

In PVE, her damage is good but still lower than the best Soldier damage dealer - Administration Rifleman. And they also cost 1 deployment resource less than Han Sorim.

Pros

- huge range on her ultimate,

- good at killing Defenders.

Cons

- has to survive till her ult to actually do something,

- requires 72% Skill Haste gear to be usable,

- her basic attack damage drastically drops against non-Defender units.

Biblide, the deadly librarian whose name is among the most misspelled ones in Counter Side. Her own damage is on the lower side compared to other 3-cost Rangers, but she makes up for it with the ability to lower the DEF and Skill Haste of damaged enemies - the latter being a pretty rare debuff. Still, even if she's fully geared, she has pretty low uptime on the debuffs that are tied to her Special attack.

While her ATK is pretty low, her DEF is the second-highest in the game among all Rangers which combined with a decent HP pool, makes her decently tanky for a 3-cost Ranger.

Sadly, she tries like she wants to do too many things and because of that, she doesn't excel at anything: other DEF Breakers have better uptime, and other Rangers deal more damage. So if your roster is pretty wide, it's hard to justify using her over others.

Pros

- DEF Breaker and Skill Haste debuffer,

- has good survivability for a 3-cost Ranger.

Cons

- low uptime on the debuffs,

- low damage.

Iron Man... ekhm. Curian is the third Awakened Sniper and the first Awakened Soldier in Counter Side. Compared to the other two Awakened Snipers, Amy and Queen, he specializes in summoning units and buffing them.

You will need 6 deployment resources to field him, but he appears together with a pair of elite Wardens by his side. Considering that Warden is also a separate employee that costs 2 deployment resources, Curian's 6 cost doesn't look that bad anymore. Keep in mind that the summoned Warden doesn't inherit Curian's gear.

Curian's passive also gives Confusion immunity to ally Soldiers which counters their biggest nemesis - Harab. Still, it's pretty hard to justify using a 6-cost employee in Soldier teams as usually, you use Soldiers to rush.

In PVE, while we're still testing Curian's performance, he out-damages any other DPS on single target bosses (i.e. Raids or Guild Coop). There, his own damage is on par with Kestrel Xiao Lin, but the Wardens he summons deal around 30-40% of his damage on top of that. Still, Kestrel Xiao Lin is 2 deployment resources cheaper, but Curian can also hit Air employees so it evens out.

In PVP, his damage is also scary good, but there he has issues staying alive. Since he has 0 EVA and 0 defensive abilities, he is one-shotted by Elizabeth and even Kang brings him well below 50% HP, allowing other units to finish him off easier.

Still, if you gear Curian with tank gear (HP+HP with anti-ground dmg res) he won't die anymore to rearmed pandas (Elizabeth and Kang) while still dishing out tons of damage. We will continue observing the KR Gauntlet if other users will report similar success with playing a tanky Curian.

Pros

- huge damage,

- can attack air units, which is rare for a sniper,

- his summons can keep themselves alive pretty well and they also do a lot of damage.

Cons

- squishy, like really squishy,

- in PVP he dies if someone looks at him funny.

Warden is basically the Sniper version of Administration Rifleman which instantly makes him a monster in both PVE and PVP. Not only is his damage excellent, but his enhanced attack is also so powerful, that it can one-shot most Strikers in the game - which is pretty essential as the KR PVP meta is Striker heavy with Rearm Esterosa and Orca destroying player's dreams of reaching a higher rank.

Additionally, unlike OAR, Warden can actually survive some attacks, as she can barrier himself and shrug off an attack coming from rearmed pandas (Elizabeth and Kang). Still, to get the most out of Warden in PVP, you have to pair him with Curian and he isn't exactly a meta unit right now.

Pros

- great consistent damage,

- monstrous burst damage with enhanced attack,

- barrier helps him survive a bit longer compared to OAR.

Cons

- while his damage against non-Strikers is good, he reaches her pull potential against them only.

Ella is the third character that has a counter-type skill that allows her to, you guessed it, nullify enemy skills and counterattack. Still, similar to normal Joo Shiyoon, she can only counter Special type skills and Ultimates still will be ignored.

Compared to Joo Shiyoon, she deals more damage, but it comes at the cost of losing some utility. First of all, she doesn't stun enemies when she counters and only blinds them. Also, she has bigger cooldowns on her skills which means she's even more gear hungry than Shiyoon.

Sadly, PVP is full of awakened characters and the counter doesn't work on them, so it's hard to use her to her full potential.

Pros

- great single target damage.

Cons

Rearm Titan was one of the most awaited rearms and it did not disappoint. He is as strong as Evolved One is currently in PVP - some even think he is better than her because he doesn't need to eat other Mechs to reach his full potential and can be healed. Also, don't be fooled by the 6 cost - his fully leveled passives decrease it to 5, and on top of that, if you Leader him, it will go down to 3. Yes. Only 3. That's ridiculous.

Trina Titan's kit has been fully reworked compared to his base version. The base Titan's passives have been combined into one (and slightly nerfed) and he gained a new one instead. A Passive that is so strong, it can one-shot a lot of non-MDL characters. Thankfully, it only can be used when someone is stupid enough to attack Trina Titan head-on and enter his personal space. If they won't die from the hit, they will be knocked back basically to their ship.

Also, his Exclusive Equipment that previously was barely used now is BIS for him - especially if you want to play Trina Titan as a DPS. Similar to Kim Sobin, the EE gives 30% ASPD which combined with another 30% that Titan gained on his new passives allows him to stack either Ground Res (if you want to play him as a tank) or Ground/Anti-Striker/Anti-Defender DMG (if you want to turn him into murdermecha).

From day 1 of his release, he became a meta unit in PVP that can only be countered by Awakened Jake and Rita as their debuffs really hurt Trina Titan, making him easier to kill and decreasing his damage output. Still, even if you pair them together it will take some time to kill Titan as his Leader passive gives him a Cheat Death mechanic.

As for PVE - Trina Titan deals quite good damage and also has DEF shred on tied to his passive which allows him to perform really well in various PVE modes.

Pros

- super hard to kill,

- deals great damage,

- DEF shred,

- Cheat Death,

- his EE perfectly matches his kit.

Cons

- needs to be set as a Leader to decrease his cost and gain Cheat Death,

- countered by mech-haters like Awakened Jake and Rita.

Levia Tanis is the first Defender with Perfect Evasion - which basically makes her immortal for its duration unless you counter it with characters that have high HIT or Sure Fire effect on their skills. But even if you overcome it, she still has MDL that every SSR Defender gets as a secondary line of defense.

Keep in mind that while Awakened Mina's Perfect Evasion can be removed by buff strippers, Levia's PE can't be dispelled. On top of that, while the PE buff is active, she will retaliate and those who attack her will be not only debuffed but also damaged based on their current HP.

In 1v1s she can solo most characters in the game as she will keep evading their attacks while they kill themselves. Still, in the Gauntlet while her kit is broken on paper, she still hasn't found her place - some tried using her with Maestro and found some success, but not enough to make her a permanent member. Also, since she is an EVA based character, you can't just drop her and expect her to do well - timing is crucial.

As for PVE, her tanking abilities combined with the bonus damage based on the current HP she deals puts her among the best SSR Defenders in the game.

Pros

- Perfect Evasion + MDL allow her to tank for days,

- her skills deal bonus damage based on the current HP of her enemies.

Cons

- requires good timing to use properly in PVP.
