Information about updates
The SEA PVP ban list history won't be updated until further notice - with the addition of custom bans, an overhaul of the structure of the page is required and currently other changes to the website have a higher priority.
The game checks the winrate and pickrate of all unbanned characters in the last week and selects up to 6 characters (that's the current limit in SEA, it changes with more characters being released) that will receive Ban Level 1 or Level 2.
If people will continue to use the character that was banned for first time last week, the Ban Level can be increased to 3 or 4. But Level 4 is very rare and only happened a few times in KR.
If the character is not used, the Ban Level will be lowered by 1 (never 2, it's only 1 level decreased every week). Also, if a character is on the list for more than 2 straight weeks, the Ban Level can't be increased any further and it will decay by 1 Level each will till it reaches zero.
The decay rule is there to make sure no character can be permanently banned, even if it's super overpowered. Still sometimes on KR the system messes up and a character that was supposed to be free next week had her ban increased again, but this seems more like a bug.
It seems ship bans follow different rules and a ship can be permanently banned.
The first thing the game does is select 40 SR and SSR characters with the lowest NUMBER of wins in the last week (not win rate like we initially thought) that fulfill the two requirements:
- The character must win at least one match in the last 2 weeks.
- The character wasn't upped or banned in the last two weeks.
From the above pool, 3 characters are selected randomly and get Up buff for a week
